Bismillah,
The beloved of Allah did not have an easy life!
They faced many difficulties and at every one of them, they turned to Allah Azza Wajal for help. It is because of their trials and their reliance on Allah that we are able to get all these beautiful “Rabbanas” in the Qur’an. Many supplications came as a result of a trial. They were the beloved of Allah yet they faced many challenges in this life. As we go through trials in this life, we must look up to them for strength and guidance because Allah Azza Wajal approved of their behavior and eternalized it for us in the Qur’an.
Adama Alayhi Salaam forgot the command of Allah and felt remorse. After showing remorse, Allah showed him how to seek HIS forgiveness. Nuh Alayhi Salaam grieved over his son’s arrogance and misguidance but then sought Allah’s forgiveness. Ibrahim Alayhi Salaam and Zakariyya Alayhi Salaam cried to Allah Azza Wajal for righteous children for years and Allah Al Kareem blessed them with sons who were also prophets. Yacub and Adama, may Allah’s peace be upon them, saw their own children turn against each other, one brother killing another in the case of Adama’s family, ten brothers dropping their younger brother in an abandoned well in the case of Yacub Alayhi Salaam. Prophet Yusuf Alayhi salaam was abandoned as a child and faced slavery in a foreign land. He was then sexually oppressed and put in jail though he was innocent of any crime. He also felt the emotional pain of being separated from his beloved father and his people for many years.
Indeed this life is not easy for the beloved of Allah Azza Wajal.
Many prophets were killed and tortured. Others became ill for years and lost wealth and family. One beloved of Allah was even swallowed by a whale.
Indeed life is not easy for His beloved.
Rassullullah salallahu alayhi wa salaam the most beloved, also suffered many trials. An orphan already at birth, he grieved the loss of many members of his family throughout his life and buried six of his seven children. He faced insults, betrayals, hunger yet at every trial he turned to Allah Azza Wajal for help.
This life is a jail for the believer and a paradise for the disbeliever. If you have Eeman and your life is not an easy one, rejoice in the fact that you are in great company. All the righteous before you went through worse than you and had stronger Eeman than you. Allah Azza Wajal has not abandoned you, you are a believer and Allah Al Mu’min looks out for those who believe in Him. He is cleansing you, purifying you and giving you the tools to forbear which are patience and prayer.
The prophets waited and so will you wait for your decree. Nothing and no one will rush the timing of Allah Al Muqaddim, Al Muakhkhir.
The prophets prayed for relief and so shall you pray for relief.
He said: “My Lord! Verily, I have wronged myself, so forgive me.” Then He forgave him. Verily, He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful. (28:16)
So he escaped from there, looking about in a state of fear. He said: “My Lord! Save me from the people who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers)!” (28:21)
So he watered (their flocks) for them, then he turned back to shade, and said: “My Lord! Truly, I am in need of whatever good that You bestow on me!” (28:24)
How can you pray for relief without hardships? How can you tell the brightness of the day without the darkness of the night? Everything has a purpose and is decreed with perfect wisdom because He is Al Hakeem.
Listen to this track I posted on the beauty behind the pairing of the creation here.
The beloved of Allah are the right role models for us.

He loved them yet HE tried them but with every trial came His aid and relief. You can not be among His beloved and not be tried. The disbelievers are also tried but their trials do not benefit them. Find comfort in the fact that your trials benefit you as long as you have Eeman and Sabr.

Alhamdulillah, find comfort in the fact that His love for you is greater than a mother’s love for her child. Alhamdulillah find comfort in the fact that you belong to Him and unto Him you will return with the rewards of your forbearance waiting for you in a much better life. May that be so for us. Ameen Ameen Ameen!
