Warnings in the Qur’an are actually showing Allah Azza Wajal’s Mercy and care for us. He really does not have to give any warnings right?
Sister Taymiyyah in her tafsir of ayah 6 of suratul Baqarah said that if you see a child with dirty hands about to eat and you warn him or her that they should wash their hands first otherwise they may get sick does that mean you want them to get sick? Off course not.
Allah Azza Wajal warning His creation does not mean He wants to harm them… far from it. Why do we have warning ⚠️ signs on the road, is it to cause more accidents or to prevent harm?
• Muhsin Khan and Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali:
Verily, those who disbelieve, it is the same to them whether you (O Muhammad Peace be upon him) warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe. (6)
Al-Baqarah, Ayah 6
May Allah save us from being people who do not benefit from the warnings of the Qur’an and may He aid us to act upon what we will benefit us in this life and the next. Aameen.
I wrote a bit on the topic last year in this blogpost.
