Seek His Favors!

Bismillah!

Seek His favors dear sis! He is Al Mannaan the Ultimate Bestower of Favors! Go to Him for all that you desire!✨

But first…! Recognize the favors you are already receiving because this is a way of getting more blessings sent your way.
We always have a choice in how we want to view our life. Choose to view it from the lenses of gratitude and you will see how good you feel even when facing difficulties.

The alternative is just an extra torment you are adding to yourself.
If you are going through a tough time, find inspiration in the story of Yusuf Alayhi Salaam who described a life of heavy difficulties as a life of being favored by Allah Azza Wajal:

[Yusuf:90]:

They said: “Are you indeed Yusuf (Joseph)?” He said: “I am Yusuf (Joseph), and this is my brother (Benjamin). Allah has indeed been gracious to us. Verily, he who fears Allah with obedience to Him (by abstaining from sins and evil deeds, and by performing righteous good deeds), and is patient, then surely, Allah makes not the reward of the Muhsinun (good-doers – see V. 2:112) to be lost.”

Many times we cause our own suffering due to the way we think about a certain situation. Just look at the pandemic this year, some people choose to think this is a horrible situation and these thoughts generate feelings of sadness, anxiety, despair which in turn make them less motivated to act on projects that could actually benefit them in this life and the next. For others, this situation is the perfect situation for them to grow and reset and with thoughts like these they feel determined and motivated to make the most of the time they have. I know it sounds very simple when I put it that way, but sis’ it truly is that simple.

Shaytan and his waswas try to convince you and me that it’s all very complicated but it truly isn’t. When you focus on Allah Azza Wajal, on the bigger picture, on your purpose, life becomes very very simple indeed. When I reflect on the statement of prophet Yusuf Alayhi Salaam quoted above, I can’t help but think that this is why he took everything as a favor from Allah. He thought of the bigger picture, he knew His Lord was taking him on a journey of growth and though the journey looked scary, he knew he was under the protection of His Rabb. As a believer, you should think the same dear sis’.

Ibnul Qayyim echoes this so beautifully in one of his books:

“Those souls who are content with trusting in Allah and who know it is better for Allah to help you than for you to help yourself, … are at ease trusting in Allah, and they know that His protection is true, His promise is true, and He never breaks His promise. And there is no one truer in speech than Allah. He knows that Allah’s help is stronger, firmer, more lasting, and more beneficial than his aid of himself or the aid of any of the creation.”

Sis’ when you occupy your mind with thoughts like that, how can you despair? How can you feel stuck, gloomy or unmotivated??? Check your thoughts my dear, question the unhelpful ones and choose to part ways with them so you can entertain far more beneficial thoughts like the statement of Ibnul Qayyim.

Thinking good of Allah is EVERYTHING! Focusing on HIS ABUNDANT BLESSINGS will make you feel much better and more of the same will enter your life. Not my words, not my promise, but His! Alhamdulillah!
